School Logo

Our Newdigate school badge is a fleur-de-lys. This is not an obvious choice for a school, but is another reminder of our close relationship with the village as the badge is a very ancient part of Newdigate's history; it was the crest of arms awarded to John Newdigate in the reign of Edward III and has remained associated with the village for over 600 years.

Diocese of Guildford Logo

Newdigate Infant school is an outstanding (SIAMS report December 2015) Church of England Voluntary Aided (VA) Endowed School within the Guildford Diocese. For more information about the diocese please visit the website https://www.cofeguildford.org.uk/education

History

Newdigate Infant School is one of the oldest schools in the area. It was built in 1660 by the rector of Newdigate, George Steere. Since then it has gone through many changes but remains an integral part of the village community, giving children the best start in their educational journey.

Traditions

As well as being forward thinking and embracing new ideas and approaches, at Newdigate Infant School, we have many valued traditions such as our May Queen Celebration, Easter Bonnet Parade, Rectory Fete, Christmas Services at St.Peter's Church, Mothers' Day Tea Party and many more.

What parents say about us

2022 - Parent Questionnaire I have summarised the main questions below. Once again, the responses were overwhelmingly positive, so thank you for your feedback. As always, there are areas for improvement. This year we will continue to work on better communication and will be looking at our extended services offer. 100% of parents would recommend the school to another parent. 2021 - Parent Questionnaire At the end of the term we sent out a parent questionnaire to all of our families.  Overall, they were very positive and supportive, but we did have a few responses that highlighted areas for us to improve. Our main area for improvement is communication, including communication of children’s learning. We know that the last year had a massive effect on our ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner and we are keen to work towards this immediately. 100% of parents would recommend the school to another parent. 2020 - No parent questionnaire due to Covid-19 response. In our parent questionnaire in 2019, 100% of the parents said that the school provided a solid foundation for their child's future, that their child felt safe in school, that their child's academic needs were well met, that the school encouraged a healthy lifestyle, that the school were pro-active in providing extended services and that children were encouraged to be part of the community 2018 - See Ofsted - Parent View information In our July 2017 questionnaire, 100% of the parents said that their child enjoyed school and that their child felt safe.  96% felt that the school met the academic needs of their child; that the school provides a good foundation for the future; and that the school encourages the children to be part of the community. Parent Feedback

Newdigate school feels like a family, and one that is nurturing the community's
children.  We will definitely miss the school and so wish we could take it with us to Canada so that our son Aidan could also benefit from such a positive early years start.

Moss

" You, your team and the Governors deserve the highest praise for the way in which you have created an atmosphere of cohesion and generosity that permeates through to the wider village community.  I am proud that my children attend such a compassionate well rounded school that extends beyond the physical walls and mere bureaucratic box ticking."

Mr Grove

"I just wanted to say a big thank you to Mrs Priestley and her team for putting on the Mothers Day Tea Party.  It is really a very special event and one of my favourites at Newdigate.  It is what differentiates Newdigate from other schools and makes it really special.  I know a lot of effort must go into putting it together, all the flowers, food, table cloths…and I wanted to say it is very much appreciated.  A big thank you!
